SHARON MCELVAIN began Art and Photography at the American Academy in Athens, Greece. Influenced by Art and Art History during extensive travels throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, Asia, and Russia with her family. A Graduate from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography she studied under mentors Tom Barrow, Betty Hahn, Rod Lazorik, and Photography Historian Beaumont Newhall. Sharon settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico and worked at Blue Feather Press as a Graphic Artist in Fine Art Reproduction.
"Art and Photography triggered my true love of the great outdoors and adventure sports. With adventures coaxing me & the technology explosion in Graphic Arts, I gained opportunity relishing in the moment by captivating the world around me with photography. As a Ski Instructor at Santa Fe Ski Area, Taos Ski Valley, & Mountain Bike Guide for "Bicycle Detours of the Great Southwest", River Raft Guide for "Southwest Wilderness Center" my wildest expectations reached full potential. Art & Photography ignited my inspirations of life and work. When the moment is captured as a pictorial image in time, the vision lives on. Without imagery many great moments are forever lost, or simply forgotten. "eyesforyou" is my vision, an attempt to capture the wonder and fascination of our astounding world with emense admiration and awe."
Today, Sharon lives and works at "RANCHO CORAZON" with her family breeding and training Holsteiner Horses for competitive Show Jumping. The whole family rides and competes in Show Jumping and is the greatest support and influence of her Art and Photography.
